WZTV: 9/11 Memorial Climb to honor fallen heroes at Nashville Yards
Nashvillians will have an opportunity to honor those killed in the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks during an overnight memorial stair climb at Pinnacle Tower at Nashville Yards.
Shepherd’s Men will host its 9/11 Memorial Climb beginning at 11:35 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10, and continuing until 8:46 a.m. Friday, Sept. 11 — the time the first plane struck the World Trade Center’s North Tower 25 years earlier.
Participants will climb 35 flights of stairs at their own pace inside Pinnacle Tower, located at 131 10th Ave. North. Organizers say the route will include memorial displays, historic photographs and personal stories honoring people killed in the attacks, along with the first responders who answered the call.
The event is open to the public, and no special training is required, according to the event flyer. Registration costs $91.10 and includes an opportunity to climb, an event T-shirt and a commemorative challenge coin. Organizers say the last entry will be at 8 a.m. Sept. 11.
